A new work commissioned for the opening of FRINGE 2014 from local composer Cameron Smith featuring a huge brass section as part of a stirring opening ceremony that will also feature a new dance work and spoken word works by Andrew Galan and Amelia Filmer-Sankey.

Presented in conjunction with the National Multicultural Festival, Fringe Kids – The Kids Sanctuary offers a place for the younger ones and families to beat the heat during the busy National Multicultural Festival day in Civic. Featuring a wide range of kids activities all day from indigenous dance workshops, magic shows and balloon making to fairytales and roving performers, there will also be series of Fringe based kids shows free all day to entertain the littlies. DR STOVEPIPE: will be present their kids animal show ZO-OLIGY as part of this program (11,12 and 1).

Brave ACT comedians “stand up and take it” all in the name of comedy. Hilarious, cringe-worthy and always guaranteed to make you blush a little – in a good way.

A butoh live artwork presented by Chenoeh Miller of Little Dove Theatre Art. For the first time FRINGE presents a new work inside the Canberra Museum and Gallery in conjunction with the Sidney Nolan exhibition. A special 30 minute show from the creator of 2011′s Cordelia (Street Theatre) and the award winning Six Women Standing in Front of a White Wall and Six Billion Love (CYT).

Some of the best and quirkiest acts of the Multicultural Festival grace the FRINEG 2014 stage in Civic Square after the Sunday morning Interfaith Gathering (10-2) featuring:
Russian Orchestra ‘Radost’ and the Russian ‘Zabaikal’ Cossacks (Russia), Maite Solana Y Swing Band (Chile) and the Moon Ensemble (Iran – Majid Derakhani). Followed by a closing concert by well loved local duo BETH AND BEN with a special EIGHT PIECE BAND.
