The National Multicultural Festival wouldn’t be possible without the energy, passion, and dedication of our incredible volunteers.
Each year, hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers help bring the festival to life — supporting performers and stallholders, assisting with event logistics, welcoming visitors, and helping create a safe, inclusive, and joyful experience for all.
Whether you're looking to gain event experience, meet new people, or give back to the community, volunteering is a great way to be part of one of Canberra’s most loved events.

Who we're looking for?
Whether you love being in the thick of things, guiding attendees, or managing the spotlight, there's a role for everyone. Plus, if you speak multiple languages, we'd love to hear from you - your skills could make a huge difference in helping us connect with our diverse audience. Already performing at the festival? Share the volunteer opportunity with friends and family so they can join in on the fun!
We’re seeking volunteers for a range of roles. You can download the Volunteer Role Guide or click through below to read more about each role and find the one that’s right for you.
What you need to know
- Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Those aged 16 or 17 may be eligible if accompanied by a guardian who is also volunteering during the same shift.
- You’ll receive a festival t-shirt, hat and a food voucher.
- Shifts are 4.5 hours or less, and you can sign up for one or more sessions across the weekend, with plenty of time to enjoy the festival.
- Full training will be provided.
- We’re committed to making volunteering accessible to everyone — just let us know your needs.
